Overview

Freezing cards

Freezing cards gives you security and control over usage of a given card, and can be used in case a card is temporarily lost or if you wish to restrict spends on said card for a short duration. Any transactions attempted on a frozen card will be automatically declined. Cards can be unfreeze at any time.

As a Cardholder

To freeze your own Volopay virtual card:

  1. Go to My Volopay

  2. Navigate to the physical card section,

  3. On the physical card widget, on the right hand side you will see the "Freeze" button

  4. Click on the freeze button.

Unfreeze the card at anytime by following the same navigation steps and clicking Unfreeze.

As an Admin or Card Manager

Admins and Card Managers have the power to freeze cards assigned to other users. If a card is frozen by an Admin or Manager, only they or someone with a higher role can unfreeze it. To unfreeze a teammate's Volopay card:

  1. Go to Cards Module > Physical card section or People section

  2. Search for the card or user to wish to freeze a card(s) for

  3. Click on the Freeze button at the top of the card slider.

Unfreeze the card at anytime by following the same navigation steps and clicking Unfreeze.

Blocking cards

You can permanently block physical card at any time in Volopay dashboard.

Once a card is blocked, the card will be declined for any attempted transactions. Refunds will still be processed. The card and its activity can still be viewed by visiting the Blocked section on physical card page. All previous transactions on the card will remain accessible in the transaction history.

Note: Make sure to doubt check before blocking a card as it is a permanent action and the user will have to order a new card as replacement with added cost of new card, so maybe freeze a doubt when in doubt.
